Description

These restaurant-style cardamom cinnamon sugar brioche buns are soft, fluffy, and irresistibly delicious, perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cardamom, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and eggs to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions. Shape each portion into a bun.
  8. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle it over the buns.
  10. Let the buns rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk on top of the buns after baking.
  • These buns can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cardamom and cinnamon to your taste.
