Description

A delicious and aromatic slow cooker beef biryani made with fragrant basmati rice, perfect for Ramadan.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef, cut into chunks
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 2 teaspoons biryani masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro and mint for garnish
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, heat the oil and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  2. Add garlic, ginger, and sauté for another minute.
  3. Add the beef chunks and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the tomatoes, yogurt, biryani masala, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and salt.
  5. Add the water and mix well. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  6. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  7. Once the beef is cooked, add the rinsed rice to the slow cooker and gently mix.
  8. Cover and cook on high for an additional 1-2 hours or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.
  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro and mint before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the beef in yogurt and spices overnight.
  • Adjust the spices according to your taste preference.
  • Serve with raita or salad for a complete meal.
