- 1 cup almond semolina
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds (for topping)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar (for syrup)
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond semolina, yogurt, sugar, melted butter, and baking powder.
- Mix until well combined and pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the basbousa is baking, prepare the orange syrup by combining water, sugar, orange juice, and orange zest in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Once the basbousa is done, pour the warm orange syrup over it.
- Let it cool before serving.
